OUR STORY
-
I suspect, like most people who end up making a life here, my adventure in Todos Santos started when I came for a one week vacation!
I arrived here in the spring of 2004 and fell in love with the landscape, the ocean, and the people. I returned a few times that year, and by October 2004 I bought this -at that time- rather barren but magical piece of land. The location was perfect. It felt like rural life, but just on the edge of town. Close to the action, but removed.
I started building in April of 2005. A home for myself and another for my adult children. I had done my design degree in Madrid and worked extensively throughout Latin America, it felt like a manageable challenge. Once happily settled into my new life, I decided to bring to fruition a long held dream, to own a little bed and breakfast. At that time, there were only a few hotels in town, certainly nothing contemporary. On the premise of “if I build something that I and my friends would like, people will come,” I built the Hotelito.

By July 2007 we were ready to open. I thought we would have until October, the start of high season, to get ourselves organized. From day one we were, unexpectedly, booked all through the summer months! We learned as we went, fine tuning each day.
I wanted a place that was comfortable and stylish. The best beds I could find were shipped down from Los Angeles, and linens ordered from England. Good shower pressure was a must. Down and anti allergic pillows were also on my list of priorities.
Unbeknownst to me, one of of our earliest guests wrote a rave review to the San Francisco Chronicle, and we were launched. Since then we have been featured in many international design and lifestyle magazines and newspapers.
“I have made countless friends who came to stay with us and then ended up purchasing homes here. It continues to be an utter joy. ”
